Hiteon Community,
I am thrilled to have the position of PYP Coordinator at Hiteon. I am passionate about teaching and learning and appreciate the inquiry based approach to instruction. After spending 12 years teaching 4th grade, I decided to pursue an alternate role within the walls of Hiteon. I am excited about the progress that Hiteon has made toward becoming a fully-authorized PYP school, and I am committed to our future as part of the International Baccalaureate program.
After a career in Sales and Marketing, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. I went back to school and received a Masters in the Art of Teaching from George Fox University. I have been teaching in the Beaverton School District for more than 13 years, and prior to teaching in Beaverton, I taught in the Tigard-Tualatin School District. I have taught every grade from Kindergarten to 5th grade, and have served many roles including: TAG Coordinator, Intervention Specialist, Professional Development Facilitator and Math Cadre.
I have many hobbies outside of school. I love to cook, hike and travel. But my favorite thing to do on the weekend is golf! If the weather is nice (and sometimes even when it’s not nice!) you can find me on a golf course with my husband or hiking with my daughters and dogs!
This year, my husband and I celebrated 30 years of marriage, and we are excited that BOTH of our daughters were married this past summer! Our oldest daughter graduated from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!). One of our daughters is working on her Masters in Teaching from George Fox University. The other currently lives in Colorado and teaches kindergarten. We also live with a very lively dog ~ a Wheaton Terrier.
Please feel free to contact me anytime with a question, a comment, or a fun story about your family!
Warmly,
Traci Chelf
