Where we are in Place and time
As part of the PYP theme "Where We Are in Place and Time," first graders are studying how lives are affected by the passing of time. They are inquiring and thinking about the many types of environments that are called home (for people and animals) and the journeys that people and animals take for various reasons.
Students are inquiring into:
AT HOME talk with your child about changes that occur during seasonal changes. What adjustments do you make at home? How do you prepare for colder or hotter weather? Notice the behavior of animals as the seasons change. Also, talk with your children about changes that have occurred since you were a child! For example, "When I was little, we only had a black and white TV. There was no such thing as remote-control, so I had to go up to the TV to change channels or the volume!" Encourage your child to ask questions of other adults (aunts, uncles, neighbors) about when they were young. Ask your child "What do you think will be different when you grow up? How will it be different?"
Did your child have any remarkable insights or did they extend their learning at home (draw a picture from the future!)? We want to hear about it!
Please share their actions with me!
